CONTAINED Greater Alarm Brush Fire; INC#1157; 05:50PM; 25000 W Kittridge St; https://bit.ly/3CGAzMI; #WestHills; With 10 mph winds and steep terrain, approximately 100 LAFD firefighters, along with LAFD Crew 3 and LACoFD firefighters, anchored the fire and quickly deployed ground crews to both flanks, before "pinching" around the fire front to stop progress before the uphill homes became damaged. With support from water-dropping aircraft, firefighters extinguished the approximately two-acre brush fire in 79 minutes. No reported injuries. FORWARD PROGRESS STOPPED Brush Fire; INC#1059; 04:15PM; 11460 W Foothill Bl; https://bit.ly/2XaMUI5; Lake View Terrace; All Forward Progress Stopped: With an aggressive coordinated aerial and ground attack, 60 LAFD firefighters combined with a full brush response from #LACoFD stopped all forward progress of a grass fire, holding it to 1.5 acres. The firefighters will continue to conduct mop up operations to ensure no hot spots remain. No injuries reported. Hiker Rescue; INC#1142; 03:57PM; 8406 La Tuna Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/3qRsvpN; #ShadowHills; Two females were hiking with the three dogs in a remote area of La Tuna Canyon, when sadly, one of the beloved pets experienced a medical emergency and passed away. Firefighters hiked in to assist the small group. Due to the timing of the situation, exhaustion was growing and daylight was dwindling, so firefighters on the ground called for LAFD Air Operations to hoist the two hikers and two remaining pets from the remote location, then firefighters hiked back out with the deceased pet, which was returned to the owner. Firefighters extinguished the remaining flames, and are now working to shut off the sprinkler flow and evacuate smoke from the structure. No reported injuries.
