Firefighters initiated an offensive operation and extinguished the contents fire in 22 minutes (30 firefighters). All occupants were out of the home upon arrival but the location of their pet dog was unknown. Firefighters located the dog (in good condition) and reunited it with the owners. One 15yo female patient was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation. The original 9-1-1 call was received at 10:25PM. The two occupants of the unit escaped uninjured with their dog. Sadly, their cat was located deceased inside the unit. One patient from an adjacent unit is being evaluated (and likely transported) for an injury sustained during a fall while running from the unit. The fire was contained to the unit of origin. Two patients are declining ambulance transport, and *three* others are being taken to area hospitals by LAFD Paramedics for treatment following exposure to smoke. The age, gender and affiliation of the patients, and their circumstances at the time of the fire have yet to be determined.
