Physical Rescue - Fatal Collision 07/18/2024 INC#0864

Physical Rescue - Fatal Collision; INC#0864; 12:51PM; 8404 W La Tuna Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/4fbLsbc; #Tujunga; LAFD responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision to find one person trapped in each vehicle. Firefighters extricated an approximately 30-year-old male and transported him to a local hospital in serious condition. Sadly, the person in the second vehicle was found to be dead at the scene. Crews will help with extricating the deceased from the wreckage (as a body recovery, not a rescue) to assist LAPD and LA Medical Examiner. It took 75 firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0933; 02:14PM; 9120 N Omelveny Av; https://bit.ly/469Gt78; #SunValley; Heavy pressurized smoke was pouring out of this two-story home upon the arrival of fire crews. The second floor was largely burnt over, with fire extending to the attic. A neighboring home to the southeast was threatened but protected. All active flames were extinguished in 32 minutes by 38 firefighters on scene, who will remain to overhaul the structure. Four patients were assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation, but were not transported to the hospital.
