An approximately 20 year-old male passenger in that vehicle, was taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics in critical condition with unspecified injuries. The third patient, from the other vehicle, was an approximately 40 year-old female found curbside with minor injuries. She has declined ambulance transportation. #LATraffic: The intersection of Parthenia Street and Winnetka Avenue is closed to all traffic until the LAPD investigation is complete, unknown duration. One of the trapped persons proved beyond medical help, was determined dead and remains at the scene. The other trapped person was freed by firefighters and has been taken to an area hospital in undetermined condition. The third patient, found curbside with minor injuries, is declining ambulance transportation. The remaining pockets of fire are difficult to reach with exterior hose lines and due to the structural instability, crews will remain in the defensive mode. Therefore this will continue to be an active, extended operation. Drivers are advised to avoid the area surrounding De Soto x Oxnard.
