A pair of LAFD Flight Paramedics have been lowered from a hovering LAFD rescue helicopter to medically assess and stabilize the patient, who will soon be hoisted onto the aircraft with the LAFD Flight Paramedics, for in-flight treatment during direct transport to an area hospital. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1185; 04:21PM; 22250 W Strathern St; https://bit.ly/3IVDUee; Canoga Park; KNOCKDOWN: 34 firefighters extinguished the fire in 24 minutes with no injuries reported. Firefighters encountered excessive storage conditions inside the structure which created challenges reaching the seat of the fire. The fire was mostly towards the rear of the home and extended into the attic. Both occupants were out of the home prior to LAFD arrival and have no medical complaints. Cause and $ loss TBD. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1135; 06:28PM; 14735 W Bessemer St; https://bit.ly/3ILGALy; #VanNuys; Firefighters arrived to find a one-story commercial building containing an upholstery shop and auto body shop with heavy fire inside. Firefighters mounted a coordinated attack on the fire on the ~8,500 sq-ft building. Firefighters overcame forcible entry challenges, both on the exterior and encountering additional security measures inside, to gain access for hose lines to advance, as other crews ascended ladders to the roof to provide vertical ventilation. Ultimately, it took 40 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguish the flames, which were initially spotted and reported by an LAPD helicopter. No reported injuries. Hiker Rescue; INC#1135; 04:47PM; Simi Hills; https://bit.ly/43s6MTb; #Chatsworth; PRELIM: LAFD ground and air response to a stranded but uninjured teenage male hiker, who climbed a large boulder in a remote section of Chatsworth Park South, and is unable to descend safely. An LAFD rescue helicopter was able to find the teen, and lowered a rescuer. Hiker Rescue; INC#0743; 12:13PM; 99 Silver Spur Ln; https://bit.ly/3IDGxBx; #BellCanyon; One patient (34-year-old male) was stranded in a remote area of Bell Canyon, reported to be "stuck in a cave" and unable to return to their vehicle on their own. LAFD Air Ops lowered one rescuer down to the location to enter the cave and make contact with the hiker.
