Earthquake Mode 05/01/2024 INC#1002

Earthquake Mode; INC#1002; 01:51PM; Citywide; A preliminary magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred at 1:49 PM PDT, centered in Corona, California, 38 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Pursuant to protocol, the LAFD is now in earthquake mode, as personnel from all 106 neighborhood fire stations conduct a strategic survey by land, air and sea of their districts, examining critical infrastructure and areas of local concern across our 470 square mile City of Los Angeles jurisdiction. Once this process is complete and reports are consolidated, assuming there is no significant damage, LAFD Earthquake Mode will be complete. This process typically takes less than one hour. There are currently no initial reports of structural damage or injuries. An update will be provided once LAFD Earthquake Mode is complete. Though no additional earthquake activity is predicted, firefighters ask you to prepare for any aftershock. If inside when shaking starts: Drop, Cover, Hold On! Protect your head and neck while taking cover under sturdy furniture or near a sturdy interior wall, away from windows and doorways until the shaking stops. After surveying your home and/or workplace for earthquake damage and assuring no injuries, please check on your pets and at-risk neighbors, especially seniors living alone.; FS 4; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 1; No Units Assigned; CH0; Nicholas Prange
