Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free the two trapped patients. A total of four were evaluated. Sadly, one was deceased on scene. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0120; 02:41AM; 1135 S Maple Av; https://bit.ly/3zBjOEM; #DowntownLA; Firefighters arrived at a 50' x 150' unit in a one-story row of commercials with fire showing. Crews forced entry and extended hose lines inside, while others ascended ladders to the roof to cut holes in the roof to provide vertical ventilation. It took 98 firefighters 33 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1219; 06:37PM; 1158 N San Fernando Rd; https://bit.ly/4dw35Rn; Glassell Park; KNOCKDOWN: Over 100 firefighters extinguished the fire in 42 minutes with no injuries reported. The fire building (100' x 200' one-story commercial previously a courthouse) was destroyed and is structurally unstable. LAFD heavy equipment operators are enroute to assist in overhaul and ensuring the structure is down safely. The two-story building on the SE (Bravo) side was defended from damage by crews. This will remain an active incident into the night. Per protocol, LAFD Arson is responding for the investigation.
