Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0273; 06:46AM; 2501 S Main St; http://bit.ly/2X6baq7; Historic South-Central; CORRECTED ADDRESS. LAFD arrived to find a 6,466 sq-ft one-story commercial building with fire through the roof. Firefighters initially used defensive tactics to knock back much of the fire, before making entry to finish off the remaining flames. 74 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 34 minutes with no reported injuries. Building and safety notified to assess structural damage. No injury. No structure damage. No formal evacuation. Wind not a factor. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1532; 10:28PM; 831 S Westlake Av; http://bit.ly/2J5BkUE; Westlake; Firefighters arrived to find a two-story living space (structure) in the rear of a multi-family residence, with fire through the roof. LAFD employed defensive tactics at first, drowning the fire from the outside. By the time the flames were knocked back enough to enter the structure, the integrity of the roof and second floor were in question, making this a more extended operation to finish off the flames above the ground floor. 53 firefighters extinguished the fire in 47 minutes and will remain on scene for an extended overhaul of the structure. LAFD protected all surrounding structures from the heat and flames. No reported injuries. Structure Fire KNOCKDOWN; INC#0146; 02:33AM; 710 S Broadway St; http://bit.ly/36BasFQ; Downtown; 36 firefighters were given an inexact location of a fire that stayed concealed while they searched multiple floors of multiple buildings before getting eyes on the problem on the 6th floor of an apartment building (built in 1909). Once the firefighters found the heat source, they quickly "drop bagged" a hose line (pulled the hose up from the ground up through a balcony/fire escape with a rope), and extinguished a small amount of fire (beams/joists appeared to be smoldering for several hours). There was evidence of construction in the area, but the definite cause of the fire remains unknown. Update Outside Fire; INC#1337; 10:23PM; 4560 W Doran St; http://bit.ly/2JFXqgr; Atwater Village; Up to 90 LAFD firefighters have been flowing water on the recycling yard, now five hours into the incident. The flames have all been extinguished, with minor flare ups when the debris is turned over, revealing heat underneath. Firefighters will continue to drown the pile throughout the night and companies will be brought in to rotate personnel periodically. LACoFD and Glendale FD are on scene assisting. No victims. No structures threatened. One firefighter sustained a minor injury.
