Companies quickly extinguished the vegetation before the structure became involved, and will be clearing the scene shortly. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0890; 02:58PM; 447 S Berendo St; https://bit.ly/3tPnwCB; Koreatown; Firefighters quickly engaged with flames on the top floor, preventing further spread throughout the apartment building, and extinguished the fire in 16 minutes. Firefighters used a minimal amount of water to effectively extinguish the fire to prevent additional damage, however smoke from the fire unit filled the hallways. Firefighters will mechanically ventilate the structure with blowers and strategic flow control, using doors and windows, to clear the smoke. A thorough search of the fire unit, thankfully, revealed no patients. Update Brush Fire; INC#0825; 02:36PM; 2860 N Sierra St; https://bit.ly/3tBY1og; Lincoln Heights; All forward progress is stopped and the size estimate is 5 acres. There are no injuries reported. LA County Camp Crews are on scene assisting with cutting line and mop up operations. The structures in the area are being evaluated to determine number/damage. There are no evacuation orders in place. LAFD Arson investigator is responding to conduct the cause investigation as per protocol. Update Brush Fire; INC#0825; 01:55PM; 2860 N Sierra St; https://bit.ly/3tBY1og; Lincoln Heights; The fire is now estimated at 3-4 acres in medium to heavy brush with a slow rate of spread under 15 mph winds. Firefighters are making good progressing knocking down two structures well involved in fire. Air attacks are effective and overall, crews are making good progress against the fire. There are no injuries reported. There are approximately 10 homes under immediate threat and evacuations are being initiated. Firefighters are conducting a ground based attack, structural defense and helicopters are conducting water drops for the air attack.
