It took 30 firefighters just 12 minutes to extinguish the flames, successfully protecting the adjacent occupancy. Update Structure Fire; INC#1154; 07:41PM; 1661 S Mcgarry St; https://bit.ly/2W1mV2p; Downtown; KNOCKDOWN: 38 firefighters extinguished fire in the cabs of multiple tractor trailers in 22 minutes. Firefighters prevented extension of the fire into the adjacent commercial building (delivery vehicles backed up to a loading dock). LA County Health being notified because it is a produce business and there is smoke (no fire) inside the structure. No injuries reported. Cause and $ loss TBD. Two additional task forces were requested. Firefighters made their way up the stairwell to the 9th floor and found a fire (possible trash area) in one unit. Update Knockdown Structure Fire; INC#0913; 04:29PM; 650 E 16th St; https://bit.ly/3caNQxB; Downtown; Thanks to the activation of an automatic fire sprinkler, an exterior fire extended only minimally into a 1 story commercial building beneath the 10 Freeway, burning only a "couple of boxes" (unspecified contents) at the yet to be identified business. First arriving LAFD crews quickly extinguished the remaining outdoor flames without injury.
