Update FINAL Chemical Spill; INC#0709; 03:56PM; 1168 La Live Wy; https://bit.ly/3QBQH8U; Downtown; LAFD Hazardous Materials Squad classified the product as non-hazardous and surveyed all areas, deeming them safe to occupy. LA County Hazardous Materials is on scene and while they finalize the exact product(s) involved, they stated people in the area may continue to notice the smell due to the quantity spilled however it is not hazardous and poses no public safety concern. One adult female patient was transported for a medical compliant unrelated to the incident and all other patients were released on scene. While the product in the drum is believed to a cleaning solution, the exact identification is still being investigated. Chemical Spill; INC#0709; 01:32PM; 1168 La Live Wy; https://bit.ly/3QBQH8U; Downtown; A 55 gallon drum had been moved into a parking structure for cleaning when an employee complained of general sickness from fumes emanating from unknown contents (possible chemicals). The units on scene requested LAFD HazMat squad and they are preparing to make entry in an attempt to identify the product in question. The adult male patient was treated on scene and declined ambulance transport. There are no other patients. The HVAC units near the drum are shut down and there are no evacuations required. FIRE OUT Structure Fire; INC#0832; 12:11PM; 801 S Hope St; https://bit.ly/49hAUod; Downtown; Firefighters ascended to the 16th floor and located a fire out on the balcony of a unit. The exterior sprinkler activated and extinguished the fire. Crews are investigating to determine the extended of any water problems in the unit below due to sprinklers. There is sprinkler activation on the 16th floor with building's fire pump running and multiple alarm activations. No hazardous materials were located. The nearby office areas are cleared for repopulation. All LAFD and LAPD resources are recovering equipment and will be clearing the scene. Streets will be reopened for use within the hour. Update Hazardous Materials 10/19/2023 INC#0995

Update Hazardous Materials; INC#0995; 04:05PM; 201 N Main St; https://bit.ly/404etP9; Downtown; In a mailroom of the Los Angeles City Mall, two workers opened a package with concerning content. No substance was visible in the package. The two workers were evaluated by paramedics (did not have any signs or symptoms of illness) and transported to the hospital, as a precaution, for further evaluation. Out of an abundance of caution, these actions have/are taking place: 1) The mail room and a few adjacent businesses were evacuated by LAFD personnel; 2) The LAPD Bomb Squad is responding per protocol to further investigate other packages in the room. There is no active threat to City Hall, City Hall East or public safety. This response is a joint operation with LAFD and partner agencies including LAPD, FBI, and Postal Services. This type of incident will typically last several hours and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Los Angeles Street is closed between Temple & 1st. There are two patients being evaluated for (as yet) unknown medical complaints.
