Patient was then lifted and fully extricated from the shaft by rope. Paramedics are transporting the 27M in critical condition to a local trauma center with LAPD escort. Though intense flames caused structural compromise throughout the involved commercial structures, firefighters kept the blaze confined with no extension into neighboring businesses. No injuries reported. Units arrived to find heavy smoke coming from 2 units in 1 story row of commercial occupancies. Companies began an aggressive offensive attack of the fire, with firefighters on the roof stating heavy fire coming from all cut ventilation holes.
