Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0504; 09:19AM; 550 S Vermont Av; https://bit.ly/491h4Od; Koreatown; KNOCKDOWN: 64 firefighters on scene extinguished fire located in the basement of a 12 story commercial building under renovation in 33 minutes with no injuries reported. Work was underway in the elevator shaft and it is believed sparks fell down into rubbish in the basement. Firefighters ascended the stairwell up to the roof and are now assisting in ventilation efforts to clear the building of smoke. Firefighters are also completing a thorough search on each floor looking for both occupants and any fire extension which will be an extended duration operation due to the size of the building (and lack of functioning HVAC system to assist). Traffic will be heavily impacted at S Vermont x W 6th and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes through Koreatown. LAFD PIO Firefighter David Ortiz is enroute for media availability. ; FS 6; Batt 11; Central Bureau; Council District 10; BC1 BC11 BC14 BC18 BC5 CM722 E10 E11 E13 E211 E220 E226 E235 E26 E27 E52 E6 EM11 HR3 RA26 RA806 SQ21 T11 T20 T26 T3 T35 UR3 UR88; CH9; 13 14; Margaret Stewart
