Update Hazardous Materials Investigation; INC#0724; 12:50PM; 855 N Vermont Av; http://bit.ly/2Dcq4nD; East Hollywood; 38 Los Angeles Firefighters including LAFD HazMat experts, have thoroughly examined in and near the 3 story Los Angeles City College Student Union Building, and discovered no identifiable hazard. Eight adult (school maintenance?) workers, including those involved with a floor stripping operation (using chemicals?) on the first floor, initially complained of minor throat irritation, but after walking outside to fresh air, none are desirous of further medical care. Approximately 100 other persons with no illness or injury (their age group and campus affiliation not determined), were calmly shepherded from the building to a nearby location, where they remained until LAFD operations were complete. Fire attack had to overcome poor visibility inside of a large warehouse to locate the seat of the fire and eventually extinguish the flames. The cause is under active investigation. Vehicle Into Structure; INC#0579; 10:38AM; 3862 N Glenalbyn Dr; http://bit.ly/2ZwYEUp; Mount Washington; A cement truck rolled down a hill, across the road and collided with an auto and the garage of a single family home. No one was occupying the garage at the time of collision and the driver had previously evacuated himself from the truck. No injuries. Building and Safety has been notified to assess structural integrity. Firefighters have retrieved medications and personal belongings for 3 adults that could potentially be displaced. Red Cross not required, as nearby family members will be able to accommodate them, if necessary. Fuel from the truck has leaked out onto the ground. Firefighters have created a dike to limit spread of the fuel and environmental impact (Watershed Management Division has been notified).
