Update Greater Alarm Structure Fire KNOCKDOWN 08/16/2020 INC#0880

Update KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0880; 03:52PM; 1910 S Los Angeles St; https://bit.ly/2E1S6nI; Historic South-Central; LAFD firefighters battled flames in a four-story apartment building, approximately 22,000 sq-ft built with 31 units built in 1910, for an hour and 15 minutes before declaring the fire "knocked down." Early in the incident, one 35-year-old male was rescued from the burning building and transported to a nearby hospital by LAFD with minor smoke inhalation (no burns) in fair condition. Teamwork during the fire fight among the 82 LAFD firefighters on scene provided them with the ability to sustain the attack, rotating crews in and out to avoid exhaustion and running out of air. LAFD CERT volunteers generously responded to provide hydration and rehab for firefighters during the incident. This fire appears to have started at the ground level and burned up through the walls to involve the fourth floor and attic. LAFD's Arson/Counter Terrorism Section is on scene leading the investigation.
