Firefighters extricated one patient who was transported in critical condition. Update River Rescue; INC#0581; 11:00AM; 352 La River; https://bit.ly/3Z1j1n4; #BoyleHeights; A man was seen descending from the 6th Street Bridge down into the flowing water of the LA River. The man traveled over three-quarters of a mile southbound in the water, passed under the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and managed to escape the water flow before getting to the Olympic Bridge. The man had injuries (undetermined extent) and waited on the bank for LAFD personnel who evaluated, treated, and prepared him for transport. River south of Washington Bl; https://bit.ly/3Tz7Np7; #BoyleHeights; An adult male suffering the effects of hypothermia (no other injuries yet determined) has been successfully rescued by an LAFD helicopter crew that hoisted him safely aboard their aircraft hovering above a corrugated concrete shear wall within the rain-swollen (undetermined water depth or speed) Los Angeles River south of Washington Blvd. He was provided in-flight medical care by the on-board LAFD Flight Paramedic team during his direct helicopter transport to the Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center. We have yet to confirm his age or the circumstances related to his being in the flood control channel. KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1767; 11:03PM; 826 S Santa Fe Av; https://bit.ly/3Fcy4DB; #DowntownLA; Firefighters forced entry into the metalclad building. After withdrawing to defensive operations and knocking back the flames, firefighters re-entered the building to finish the job. Ultimately, it took 96 firefighters 46 minutes to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, this particular metal-working business did not contain some of the flammable metals (like magnesium) that can be a concern, but only aluminum was the main metal found inside. There were no reported injuries.
