The LAFD is an all-hazards response organization, and the HAZ MAT program is designed to address the natural, technological, or purposeful response challenges, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats to our community and national security.
An employee who has been trained and certified as a hazardous materials specialist and/or technician and who is assigned to a hazardous materials response unit or is assigned to the CBRNE/WMD Unit on a full-time basis to provide hazardous materials training and oversight shall receive of 5.4% of step 6 schedule 2.
