Air Operations helicopters have separated from the Stadium Way grass fire to assist with extinguishment in the basin. An LAFD water tender unit is en route to provide a water supply for ground based resources. Brush Fire 05/02/2026 INC#1406

Brush Fire; INC#1406; 05:44PM; Sb 110 Fy; https://bit.ly/49jn7Pp; Elysian Park; LAFD resources, including water dropping helicopters, are en route to a brush fire which has broken out on the SB 110 freeway at Stadium Way. Units on scene report a 50' x 50' patch of light fuels being wind driven. It is unknown if this fire is related to the rubbish/grass fire units are working on south of this location. Rubbish Fire; INC#1339; 05:09PM; Nb 101 Fy; https://bit.ly/4dmfZUQ; Downtown; LAFD units are working on containing and extinguishing a grass fire at the interchange of the NB 101 freeway to the NB 110. CHP will be closing the transition between the two freeways in order for firefighters to safely work on the fire. Initial reports state fireworks may have been the ignition source of this blaze. Reported Smoke 05/02/2026 INC#1009

Reported Smoke; INC#1009; 01:48PM; 14142 W Vanowen St; https://bit.ly/4ndVFso; Van Nuys; Reports of smoke from a four story center hall apartment building prompted the first arriving LAFD units to investigate the source. No smoke or fire was visible, but fire alarm bells were ringing. Firefighters located a lithium-ion battery which had exploded in a third floor apartment, causing shattered windows and the initial reports of smoke. LAFD HazMat units are en route to assist with the overhaul of the unit as well as monitoring air quality for those occupants that are impacted. No reports of injury. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0766; 11:25AM; 8041 N Wilkinson Av; https://bit.ly/3PdG2V8; Sun Valley; 38 firefighters extinguished the contents fire in 21 minutes. All occupants and pets of the dwelling safely exited. One dog is receiving additional oxygen support from firefighters due to smoke inhalation. Cause of fire is unknown. No injuries reported. Due to the nature of the injury, extrication from the fence will be required. The patient is awake, alert, and receiving medical assessment/care while LAFD USAR members safely remove him from the fence. The patient will be transported to a local hospital for further treatment. No exposures to the fire and a report of 1 female patient in critical condition. Patient was assessed, treated on scene and rapidly transported to a local hospital.
