The two occupants of the vehicle were deceased prior to LAFD arriving on scene. Update CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#0887; 04:43PM; 17325 W Signature Dr; https://bit.ly/2BBSs2N; Granada Hills; With water drops from LAFD Air Ops, firefighters anchored the heel of the fire (used water or fuel removal to keep the fire from backing away from the ignition point), flanked up both sides (laying down hose and extinguishing the sides of the fire), and then pinched (hose lines met around the other side, extinguishing the final advancing flames at the head of the fire). It took 70 LAFD firefighters and #LAFDCrew3 58 minutes to extinguish the active flames, which after further survey, proved to be 1.3 acres total. Crews will remain on scene approximately 2 hours to "mop up" the remaining hot spots and smoldering material within the burn footprint. Firefighters skillfully protected nearby homes in the nearby neighborhood. No reported injuries.
