Update Fatality - Confined Space Rescue; INC#0720; 01:18PM; 12000 S Vista Del Mar; https://bit.ly/2MZchr9; Playa del Rey; Despite bystander CPR and continued care by 47 LAFD responders, including LAFD Paramedics and Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) personnel specially trained, equipped and certified to perform confined space rescues, the 43 year-old male worker (unknown site affiliation) has been determined dead at the scene, after sustaining severe trauma from an approximately 25' fall to the bottom of a 15' x 15' pit-like confined space that was mostly dry, with a small amount of moisture at bottom, utilized for unknown purpose, at the City of Los Angeles Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant. LAFD responders will remain at scene to assist the Coroner in his removal. Bystander CPR in progress on LAFD arrival. Update Fatality Traffic Collision; INC#0905; 02:50PM; 10800 N Tampa Av; https://bit.ly/38eVaJ8; Porter Ranch; Now described as a two vehicle collision with one vehicle striking a pole, trapping the driver of that vehicle (sole occupant, unknown age or gender), who has been determined dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle is uninjured. One or more lanes of Tampa Avenue and/or Chatsworth Street are expected to remain closed in the immediate vicinity until LAPD operations are complete, unknown duration. Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Update Structure Fire; INC#0857; 04:03PM; 8839 N Cedros Av; https://bit.ly/3sUl5xH; Panorama City; KNOCKDOWN: 96 firefighters extinguished the fire in both buildings in one hour and 11 minutes. Crews are continuing to ensure there are no hot spots in the walls and assessing the level of damage to the units in both buildings. There are no injuries reported and needs are being evaluated for occupants who will be displaced (unknown number at this time). LAFD PIOs Captain Erik Scott and Firefighter David Ortiz are expected be on scene in the next 10 minutes to assist the media. Arson investigators are responding to assist in the cause investigation per protocol. Update Structure Fire; INC#0857; 03:25PM; 8839 N Cedros Av; https://bit.ly/3sUl5xH; Panorama City; Firefighters made good progress against the fire in Branch 1 (original fire building 8839 Cedros) however they are battling a running attic fire in Branch 3 (roof of the exposed building 8849 Cedros). LAFD PIO's Captain Erik Scott and Firefighter David Ortiz are enroute to assist the media on scene. This incident is at the Greater Alarm status with 89 firefighters assigned. Branch 1 is the original fire unit (8839 Cedros), Branch 2 is the exposure (8849 Cedros) with fire in two units. Crews are actively engaged in fire attack in both buildings and are making progress. Firefighters are also working on any necessary evacuation vs sheltering in place for building occupants.
