KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0444; 09:57AM; 2500 E Whittier Bl; https://bit.ly/3FweD6f; Boyle Heights; *Corrected Address* Firefighters found an approximately 40' x 60' standalone one-story commercial building (and site of a previous burn), with no other structures threatened. Firefighters began the attack from the exterior, in defensive mode, and as the flames were quickly knocked back, transitioned to offensive mode to finish off extinguishment. Ultimately, it took 34 firefighters 18 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. After an initial transitional attack from the exterior, firefighters were able to make entry and move into an offensive attack. A thorough search of the structure found no occupants inside. The address was updated and the structure was identified as one of three on the property. None of the other buildings were damaged. Two patients are being evaluated, male and female (age and condition unknown) for burn injuries. There are 'exotic' animals on site (number unknown) that were sequestered and are not injured. La Tuna Canyon Road is closed in both directions due to large-diameter hose lines on the street, please avoid the area. LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section is responding for the investigation.
