Firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the surrounding, large cypress trees. Crews will remain on scene conducting overhaul operations well into the night. Update Structure Fire; INC#1635; 10:06PM; 1839 N Kenmore Av; https://bit.ly/2TEOLTl; Los Feliz; The incident transitioned to a defensive operation as the fire was through the roof of the two story, vacant structure. Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire to prevent it from extending to the exposed large trees (which could have caused further extension) and have knocked back the bulk of those flames. Crews are now returning to the offensive mode as they make entry to the attic to root out the remaining fire. Hiker Rescue; INC#1142; 03:57PM; 8406 La Tuna Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/3qRsvpN; #ShadowHills; Two females were hiking with the three dogs in a remote area of La Tuna Canyon, when sadly, one of the beloved pets experienced a medical emergency and passed away. Firefighters hiked in to assist the small group. Due to the timing of the situation, exhaustion was growing and daylight was dwindling, so firefighters on the ground called for LAFD Air Operations to hoist the two hikers and two remaining pets from the remote location, then firefighters hiked back out with the deceased pet, which was returned to the owner. Firefighters extinguished the remaining flames, and are now working to shut off the sprinkler flow and evacuate smoke from the structure. No reported injuries.
