Hiker Rescue; INC#0573; 10:45AM; 1671 W Michael Ln; #PacificPalisades; An approximately 65-year-old male became stranded while on a remote hiking trail. Although uninjured, he was isolated by the terrain, unable to ascend or descend from his location. LAFD Air Operations hoisted him from the remote location and brought him to a location where paramedics evaluated him as a precaution. No hospital transport required. Physical Rescue; INC#0487; 09:38AM; 446 S Westminster Av; #WindsorSquare; One vehicle crashed into the detached garage of a home, with partial collapse and one person trapped. LAFD Firefighters used their Urban Search and Rescue training to extricate the patient. Dept of Building and Safety has been notified and is responding for structural assessment. The patient was evaluated by paramedics as a precaution, but thankfully, had no complaint of injury. Firefighters searched the garage for any other occupants and have found no other patients. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0386; 08:18AM; 1600 S Orchard Av; #PicoUnion; Firefighters arrived to find a two-story duplex with fire in one unit and the attic. A coordinated attack between rooftop ventilation and interior fire attack resulted in 30 firefighters extinguishing the flames in 13 minutes. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1878; 11:25PM; 5037 W Exposition Bl; #WestAdams; Firefighters encountered a well-fortified unit with smoke showing amongst a row of commercials. Firefighters were able to make entry from the rear, and 39 firefighters extinguished the flames in 24 minutes, without injury. The adjacent units were spared, with help from division walls (fire barriers) within the row of businesses. Firefighters made entry and found fire in one room of the ground level. It took 18 firefighters 16 minutes (5:22) from the time of alarm to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
