KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1357; 06:34PM; 10020 N El Dorado Av; https://bit.ly/3z6P9sZ; Pacoima; The fire was located adjacent to LAPD Foothill station. Officers were the first on scene, responding on foot from their station across the street, to ensure occupants safely evacuated. Twenty-six LAFD firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames of a one-room fire inside of the one-story single-family dwelling in 14 minutes. Firefighters saved three pets from the home (a reptile, a canine, and a feline). Paramedics administered oxygen to the feline, and all three now appear to be well. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0788; 12:39PM; 12100 W Olympic Bl; https://bit.ly/3xILNML; Sawtelle; Thirty firefighters responded to a high-rise under construction (only three floors built so far), where rebar became electrically energized, injuring three workers, and igniting the structure. Two of the workers self-evacuated prior to firefighter arrival and a third, sadly, perished. Firefighters extinguished the fire in 31 minutes, from the exterior (due to ongoing electrical hazard). LADWP and Edison are working to ensure the area is de-energized before firefighters enter to assist with body recovery. Two patients were transported to a local hospital, unknown age/gender/condition. Strike Team Deployment - River Fire; INC#1657; 06:30AM; River Fire - Mariposa County; Last night, a strike team request was fulfilled for the River Fire in Mariposa County. The LAFD provided four engines with Glendale Fire supplying the fifth that constitutes a strike team (five engines and one battalion chief). As of 12 July, CalFire reports the fire size at 9,000 acres with 10% containment. Low humidity, tree torching, wind driven runs with frequent spot fires, in addition to dangerous heat levels, continue to challenge firefighters.
