While conducting a thorough search of the apartment, firefighters located a victim and determined death on scene. LAFD Arson is responding for the investigation. This will remain an active scene for the duration of the morning and commuters are advised to avoid the area of S Clarence St, south of East 4th St due to the presence of LAFD apparatus. Firefighters on the ground deployed hand lines to access and surround the fire while Air Ops conducted water drops. All forward progress stopped and the fire is contained.
