Investigation 02/03/2017

Investigation; 09:27PM; 2031 E BAY ST; https://goo.gl/maps/FwkT2R9nZ1D2; #DTLA; 5 patients (workers) suffered from slight shortness of breath, likely caused by mild Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning, and called 911. The workers started a gas powered plumbing snake to remove a sewage clog, in a poorly ventilated business, creating fumes that were subsequently inhaled. Firefighters quickly secured the area, used a specialized a gas meter to test the air, which alerted CO was in the immediate area. Firefighters then utilized electric blowers to ventilate the building, and began medically assessing the patients. Only 1 patient (a worker) required transport, an approximate 20 y/o female who is 2 months pregnant and in mild distress... We ask you to please remind others that Carbon Monoxide is an invisible killer. It is an odorless, colorless gas created when fuels (such as gasoline, wood, coal, natural gas, propane, oil, and methane) burn incompletely. It is important to have functional CO alarms, if they alarm, immediately move to fresh air, open doors and windows, and call 911 if medial symptoms arise; FS 17; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; BC1 E17 EM1 RA17 RA209 RA25; 4; 12; Erik Scott
