The first arriving 20 LAFD Firefighters took just 17 minutes to confine and fully extinguish stubborn flames within a 1,412 square-foot one-story home (built 1905). All occupants had exited the home safely on LAFD arrival, and one woman was medically evaluated for an unspecified medical concern, before being released at scene. Residents thankfully did NOT re-enter the home to find their missing dog, but instead stayed safely together outside the home to best inform first arriving firefighters, who quickly discovered and safely removed the pet from harm. There are no civilian, animal or responder injuries. The American Red Cross has been summoned to assist the 7 displaced residents ( 4 Adults / 3 Children ). This is now a law enforcement death investigation and all questions are referred to LAPD (Newton Division) Inc# 0299. Update Explosion 04/11/2021 INC#1432

Update Explosion; INC#1432; 11:00PM; 12751 W Archwood St; https://bit.ly/2OIkm4k; Valley Glen; This was a significant explosion, causing severe damage to the home and leveling the garage. A total of 7 occupants were home at the time. Two adult males were transported, one with burn injuries (59 yo M) and one with non-life threatening injuries (46yo M). One adult male sustained minor injuries and declined LAFD transport. A 65 yo female and 3 children were all uninjured. One additional adult female (neighboring home) was evaluated for injuries and declined transport (for a total of 8 patients evaluated). There is no fire hazard and the gas leak is secured. The scene is now static and being de-escalated with resources being released. The operation transitioned to a cause investigation (no information at this time) with LAFD and LAPD in Unified Command.. One adult male patient is being transported with critical burn injuries. Firefighters extricated a second patient who was buried in debris. The patient is conscious and talking with firefighters. It is unknown at this time if there are additional occupants missing. Firefighters are also working to access and shut off a gas leak detectable in the air. The gas company is also sending a representative.
