Update Fatal Traffic Collision with Entrapment; INC#1128; 04:46PM; 100 N Chicago St; https://bit.ly/3Wdk0BK; #BoyleHeights; Multi-Vehicle Traffic Collision with a total of 5 persons involved, including two who were briefly trapped in the wreckage. They include three female adults (1 critical and 2 in serious condition) being transported by LAFD Paramedics to a regional trauma center. An additional patient who was sadly beyond medical help, determined dead and remains at the scene; as well as a fifth person who reportedly fled the scene prior to LAFD arrival. No other injuries reported. Update Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0559; 12:38PM; 451 S Main St; https://bit.ly/4mFWyYC; #Downtown; The fire involved an electric scooter in the third-floor *hallway* of the 12 story 297 unit "Rosslyn Lofts" residential high-rise (built 1913), and was held in check by fire sprinklers. The flames were fully extinguished by first arriving LAFD crews in less than 20 minutes. A 68 year-old female resident (undetermined relationship or proximity to the scooter) reportedly jumped from a third-floor fire escape prior to LAFD arrival, sustaining a severe leg injury and minor facial trauma. She was transported by LAFD Paramedics to an area hospital in fair condition. No other injuries were reported. No evacuation was required. The specific cause and origin of the fire is under active investigation. A Department of Building & Safety Inspector will evaluate the integrity of the structure in the vicinity of the fire, due to physical compromise from an apparent explosion that took place prior to firefighter's arrival.
