KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1434; 07:28PM; 715 E 59th St; https://bit.ly/3WaUzR1; #Florence; Firefighters arrived at a two-story textile/clothing store to find fire on the roof, apparently related to a construction roofing operation. The rooftop fire activated fire sprinklers in the attic, which caused the ceiling to sag and leak water to the second floor below. It took 44 firefighters 15 minutes to extinguish the rooftop fire. Crews will remain on scene to assist with dewatering the building from the fire sprinkler water. Crews ascended ladders to the roof of the vacant house to provide vertical ventilation, as crews developed interior fire attack hose lines to knock back the flames inside. It took 55 firefighters 36 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0337; 07:30AM; 2819 N Broadway; https://bit.ly/469jFUL; #LincolnHeights; *Corrected Address* Firefighters arrived to find a one-story commercial building with smoke coming from the openings of the structure (vents/windows/etc.). As crews made access to the vacant structure, the intensity of the smoke grew, becoming dark and pressurized. Firefighters created holes in the building to let the smoke escape, and deployed hose lines inside to oppose the flames. It took 42 firefighters 18 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0933; 02:14PM; 9120 N Omelveny Av; https://bit.ly/469Gt78; #SunValley; Heavy pressurized smoke was pouring out of this two-story home upon the arrival of fire crews. The second floor was largely burnt over, with fire extending to the attic. A neighboring home to the southeast was threatened but protected. All active flames were extinguished in 32 minutes by 38 firefighters on scene, who will remain to overhaul the structure. Four patients were assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation, but were not transported to the hospital.
