Though first arriving LAFD ground units were able to limit forward progress of flames at about 200 square-feet of vegetation and extinguish the two burning vehicles, they are still working with VCFD Engine 43 and three LAFD helicopters to extinguish a stubborn spot fire that erupted down canyon amid volatile brush. No structures are currently threatened. LAFD Paramedics have transported one of the two patients injured in the traffic collision to an area hospital, while the other patient is declining treatment or ambulance transportation. Update CONTROLLED - Greater Alarm Brush Fire; INC#1484; 07:45PM; 560 N Western Av; https://bit.ly/3gexo3U; #SanPedro; Precise LAFD helicopter water drops helped stop forward progress of the fire, which consumed ten acres of vegetation in a rugged canyon in and near Peck Park. With 81 LAFD personnel assigned, the firefight will continue hand tools and hose lines against stubborn residual flames, that at this hour have thankfully caused no injury, no need for evacuation or structure damage. Update Brush Fire; INC#1230; 05:25PM; 2400 N Sepulveda Bl; https://bit.ly/38pX5xU; #Brentwood / #SepulvedaPass; Lingering wind during the final extinguishment phase and overhaul of the earlier one-quarter (0.25) acre brush fire between Sepulveda Boulevard and southbound lanes of the San Diego (I405) Freeway, has led to several stubborn hot spots developing in volatile light-to-medium brush beyond the initial containment line; The current and ongoing work of 150 assigned LAFD personnel, including a trio of LAFD helicopters is helping to curtail fire growth (no acreage update). There have been no injuries. No structures are threatened. There are currently no evacuation warnings. #LATraffic: The closure of Sepulveda Boulevard and at least one lane of the southbound 405 Freeway in the vicinity of the fire, is anticipated until LAFD operations are complete.
