Crews forced entry and extended hose lines inside, while others ascended ladders to the roof to cut holes in the roof to provide vertical ventilation. It took 98 firefighters 33 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. The batteries have been damaged, and are on fire and off-gassing (with reports of one battery exploding). LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists are on scene. Firefighters have created a large perimeter around the site and are in the defensive mode (keeping their distance with hose lines for protection). There are no evacuations and no widespread or off-site hazard. The 47 Freeway remains closed east of Ferry. LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists are on scene. No reported injuries. Crews are setting up hose lines in case of fire hazard and decontamination stations in case of hazardous materials exposure. The 47 Freeway will be completely shut down between Ferry Street and Long Beach.
