Update Structure Fire 12/31/2016

Update Structure Fire; 10:46PM; 3421 Linda Vista Terrace; internal:/; CORRECTIONS: As many as 9 persons (5M/4F) are believed to reside in what is *now described* as a three story (descending hillside) subdivided home; Amazingly, none of the 5+ persons present at the time of the fire were injured when they thankfully noted the fire and self-evacuated the building, which was filled with excessive personal storage and had no functional smoke alarms; The bulk of damage from heavy fire conditions was confined to the 'middle' or second level of three story building (the street entry level is the top floor); Though the origin of the fire was in a mattress on the second (middle level) floor, the specific cause of the blaze remains under investigation; LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said "Had this fire occurred with the occupants asleep, the excess personal storage and lack of smoke alarms could have easily led to the demise of all who lived there". Two of the displaced residents (1M/1F) were to seek their own accommodations; The Red Cross will be assisting the remaining seven (4M/3F) with temporary placement assistance; Two pet canines could not be found within the home, and are presently unaccounted for; Monetary loss from the blaze is stil being tabulated; NFD (No Further Details); Brian Humphrey
