Power Outage 02/09/2022

Power Outage; 01:10PM; DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES; Due to a power outage in the Downtown LA area, the LAFD is responding to a number of 'stuck elevator' and 'automatic fire alarm' calls in numerous buildings in the affected area. These are common occurrences when a building loses power. We have no reports of any injuries. We do not have any information regarding the possible cause of the power outage and all questions are referred to LA DWP. ; Margaret Stewart

The fire compromised the roof structure, leaving some hard-to-reach pockets of heat that will require an extended operation to remove debris and fully snuff out all hot spots. It took 41 firefighters 51 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1230; 05:31PM; 10642 W Santa Monica Bl; https://bit.ly/34mK1Hx; West Los Angeles; Fire in one unit of a two-story building (offices over parking) spread to the attic and affected at least three units with fire and smoke damage. Thankfully, the offices did not appear to be occupied at the time (upon arrival, firefighters searched and found no one). Firefighters began with a transitional attack, utilizing hose lines from the outside first then moving inside, as crews on the roof provided vertical ventilation allowing smoke and heated gases to escape. It took 30 firefighters 26 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
