Update Structure Fire - FATALITY; INC#0432; 09:53AM; 8038 S Alverstone Av; https://bit.ly/3zKqnkJ; Westchester; After an extensive search in the structure with excessive storage conditions, firefighters located the deceased remains of (presumed) adult male. Building type is updated: it is a garage to the rear of a single family dwelling and it has a small, attached occupancy. An adult male was believed to be in the unit and was unaccounted for upon fire extinguishment. Due to the amount of storage, it took a significant amount of overhaul to permit a search of the occupancy. The incident commander requested additional resources and firefighters initiated an offensive fire attack. 50 firefighters fully extinguished the fire in 25 minutes with no injuries reported. Firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the exposed building, limiting the damage to windows and the exterior. No injuries reported. The 9-1-1 call was received at 2:34AM. While there were some (number unknown) windows which were damaged on the exposed apartment building, the fire was stopped from extending into the structure. Firefighters will remain on scene for an unknown duration to conduct extensive overhaul operations to ensure no pockets of fire remain. LA Building and Safety are responding.
