Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1230; 03:57PM; 18325 W Vanowen St; https://bit.ly/3AEpK05; Reseda; KNOCKDOWN: 60 firefighters extinguished the fire in 29 minutes. The fire was in one unit of a center-hall portion of the large apartment building. The fire extended into the hallway and filled it with heavy smoke. Crews ensured any occupants sheltered in place until the smoke was cleared and they could safely exit. One patient (not the fire unit) is being evaluated. Firefighters will continue conducting overhaul operations to ensure no hot spots remain in the affected walls. Salvage operations are underway to protect belongings from water/smoke damage in the units below and adjacent. Chemical Investigation; INC#1102; 05:00PM; 5900 W Hollywood Bl; https://bit.ly/3z0lvv2; Hollywood; Three story building (restaurant on 1st floor, self storage business above) with one (locked) unit off-gassing an odor detectable by a gas monitor (confirmed by SoCal Gas). There is no fire and there are no patients at this time. Firefighters evacuated the building and the restaurant below (in an abundance of caution) and secured the building from unauthorized entry. LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists are enroute and will further investigate (and gain access to the unit) to determine the exact source and mitigate any hazard. The 9-1-1 call was received at 4:17PM. No further details. odor detectable with gas monitor appearing to come from a storage unit.
