Controlled - Brush Fire; INC#1063; 04:45PM; 22807 W Santa Susana Pass Rd; https://bit.ly/34ODrGH; #Chatsworth / #SantaSusanPass; With the help of a Ventura County FD Engine Company, and a trio of LAFD Helicopters, the first 30 arriving LAFD ground crews were able to fully extinguish and overhaul the stubborn spot fire that erupted in volatile brush in a rugged canyon distant from the initial fire. A missing and thankfully uninjured pet dog that had escaped from one of the badly damaged vehicles was found in remote terrain by LAFD responders, and safely placed in the care of a family member who later responded to the scene. The dog's owner, a 45 year-old male driver taken by LAFD Paramedics to an area hospital, amazingly suffered only non-life threatening injuries. The adult male driver of the other vehicle declined treatment or ambulance transportation. No other persons were injured. No structures were threatened.
