Traffic Collision - LAFD Involved; INC#0043; 12:35AM; 13260 W Van Nuys Bl; https://bit.ly/469viKp; #Pacoima; An LAFD Paramedic Rescue Ambulance responding to a medical emergency was struck broadside by a civilian pickup truck at the intersection of Van Nuys Boulevard and San Fernando Road, with the civilian pickup continuing on to collide with a nearby utility pole. The two adult male occupants of the full size pickup truck were badly trapped in the wreckage of their severely damaged truck before being freed by a team of LAFD responders. Both male civilians were transported to a regional trauma center in critical condition. The two male LAFD Paramedics were able to self-extricate from the wreckage of their Type I ambulance, sustaining minor to moderate injuries. Both LAFD Paramedics were taken to an area hospital in fair condition for treatment of injuries that are not considered life threatening. No other persons were injured. The initial medical emergency that the Paramedic team was headed to, was quickly handled successfully by another LAFD crew. KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0179; 04:13AM; 2311 W Fargo St; https://bit.ly/3P9VzBi; #SilverLake; Firefighters encountered heavy fire and excessive storage conditions inside the two-story hillside home. As the incident progressed, crews observed structural weakening and were forced to retreat into defensive mode. Once outside, the structure sustained a partial roof collapse. It took 90 firefighters 35 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#1683; 09:43PM; 4020 N Mandeville Canyon Rd; https://bit.ly/3EyHSXC; #Brentwood; After establishing an anchor point (a point where the fire cannot retreat beyond), crews surrounded the fire with hose lines in steep terrain, while fire helicopters made water drops on the head of the fire. It took 36 firefighters 61 minutes to extinguish the flames in medium-to-heavy brush. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1075; 03:12PM; 833 S Fedora St; https://bit.ly/3sH87Zf; #Koreatown; Firefighters found fire in the elevator room and elevator shaft, which caused smoke to spread inside the building. Firefighters on the roof cut holes to allow smoke and heated gases to escape, while crews were proactively evacuating residents. Thankfully the 50 firefighters on scene extinguished the flames in 25 minutes, and cleared the smoke from the building, allowing all residents to repopulate their residences. No reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0683; 11:24AM; 2249 S Harvard Bl; https://bit.ly/463xXoC; #AdamsNormandie; Firefighters made access to the three-story home, and ascended interior stairwells with hose lines. Fire attack crews located fire on the 3rd floor and in the attic, as ventilation crews went to the roof to cut holes for smoke and super-heated gases to escape. Ultimately, it took 47 firefighters 27 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
