Heavy fire in the attic on LAFD arrival quickly extended throughout the vacant and boarded one-story 5,937 square-foot former bank building (built 1950 - unknown vacant date). No injuries. No evacuation. #LATraffic: Full closure of Soto Street between Olympic Boulevard and 8th Street until LAFD operations are complete, unknown duration. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1584; 09:02PM; 2687 N Pasadena Av; https://bit.ly/3SxnbRb; Lincoln Heights; KNOCKDOWN: 36 firefighters extinguished the fire in 30 minutes with no injuries reported. Firefighters made an interior attack against the fire on the 1st floor. Due to the compromised floor (previous burn), it was not safe to move up to the 2nd floor. Firefighters positioned both on the stairwell and from the exterior to achieve final extinguishment of all fire on the 2nd floor. Crews also defended the exposed, adjacent, building from damage. The 3 story single family dwelling was new construction. The blaze extended into the two adjacent residences - the extent of that damage is unknown at this time. The cause and $ loss TBD. The fire was primarily in the common (about 2' high) attic and moved horizontally down the B side (West) towards the C side (North) of the building. The truck companies on the roof created holes in the roof and used handlines to extinguish the bulk of the fire while interior fire attack address fire in the walls in (at least) one unit.
