Complete - River Rescue; INC#1201; 05:38PM; Los Angeles River East of Laurel Canyon Blvd; https://maps.app.goo.gl/YVgEchDCDax5MoUWA; #StudioCity; After being thrown a flotation device and briefly holding onto the lower portion of a 24' wooden ladder lowered by the first arriving LAFD crew along the vertical concrete wall of the Los Angeles River, the 35-year-old woman was again swept a short distance downstream by the 15 mile-per-hour flow of stormwater, before being rescued by an LAFD Rescue Helicopter crew using a hoist cable and harness. She and her LAFD rescuer have been safely hoisted aboard the aircraft where she will receive continuous in-flight care for minor injuries, including hypothermia, during direct helicopter transport to an area hospital. LAFD crews rescued an adult male and dog from the living area. One other civilian was medically evaluated. Both declined medical care. Complete - Rescue; INC#1211; 05:30PM; 7319 N Hazeltine Av; https://bit.ly/3ppEvu6; #VanNuys; Though the construction site prohibited direct access and rescue operations solely via an LAFD aerial ladder truck, firefighters were able to extend the truck's 100' aerial ladder to use a a distant high point, allowing LAFD responders to use ground ladders and a two-line rope/harness system to successfully lower the worker to safety. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0854; 12:57PM; 745 S Stanford Av; https://bit.ly/4a0GAmv; #DowntownLA; *Corrected Address* Thirty-four firefighters responded to a two-story center-hallway apartment building with fire in one unit on the first floor. Crews deployed hose lines to make an aggressive interior fire attack, quickly containing the flames to just the unit of origin and eliminating the fire in 14 minutes from the time of alarm. A search of the unit, thankfully, did not reveal any occupants to be inside. Firefighters will remain on scene to set up blowers and systematically ventilate all smoke out of the building. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1394; 06:25PM; 20345 W Londelius St; https://bit.ly/43vhiuq; #Winnetka; Firefighters responded to a one-story home with heavy fire showing from the attached garage. Crews quickly advanced hose lines inside to attack the garage fire and stop the advancing flames before they entered the living area of the home. Firefighters discovered the garage fire spread into the attic, and put fire attack on pause to perform salvage operations inside (gathering valuables and belongings and covering them to avoid further damage due to smoke or water), before opening up the ceiling and roof to access the burning attic. Ultimately, it took 32 firefighters 25 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the attic fire. One adult female was evaluated for minor smoke inhalation and found to be in good condition. She declined hospital transport. The occupants will be displaced and Red Cross is responding to help them during this transition period. No firefighter injuries. Crews made access to the inside of the building and found multiple vehicles burning inside. It took the first 28 firefighters just 18 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
