Update CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#1405; 10:44PM; 400 N Park Row Dr; https://bit.ly/2MSShUp; Elysian Park; It took firefighters 48 minutes to extinguish all active flame and deploy hose lines around the perimeter. Firefighters held the fire to approximately one acre, with no reported injuries. Crews will remain on scene to improve the line around the perimeter and extinguish hot spots within the burn footprint. Approximately three quarters of an acre of light and medium brush are involved (terrain-driven, no wind). Helicopters and a brush patrol are providing the most effective access, as crews continue to work to get tools and water to the fire. Investigation revealed that a faulty piece of equipment and its ducting were the culprit of the smoke. 32 firefighters quickly eliminated the heat and source of smoke in 20 minutes (10:03 PM), after a thorough investigation to ensure no fire spread through the ducting elsewhere in the building. An aggressive interior fire attack with coordinated vertical ventilation by 26 firefighters resulted in extinguishment after 14 minutes (2:41 PM). Firefighters performed a second search after the fire was out and found one adult male decease, in a manner unrelated to fire or smoke. No firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under active investigation. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0579; 12:03PM; 9209 S Western Ave; internal:/; Gramercy Park; CORRECTED ADDRESS; Firefighters engaged in an aggressive fire attack with coordinated vertical ventilation. There were wires down and reports of nearby propane tanks being heated enough to off-gas. While avoiding the hazards, firefighters skillfully protected the adjacent structures. It took 32 firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish the flames. One female patient was found in respiratory distress. Firefighter-paramedics provided her with a medical assessment (hospital transport decision still pending).
