Hiker Rescue; INC#0558; 10:11AM; Paseo Miramar Trail; https://bit.ly/49c8tYb; #PacificPalisades; LAFD ground and air response to an adult male hiker who sustained minor injuries in a ground-level fall on a remote section of the Paseo Miramar Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains. Rough fire road conditions due to recent storms prevent a quick or safe ground transport. Cliff Rescue; INC#0440; 09:03AM; 4040 S Bluff Pl; https://bit.ly/49tx8Ye; #SanPedro; PRELIM: LAFD land, air and sea response to an adult male (landscaper who slipped but did not fall?), who is stranded but physically stable on a seaside cliff approximately 75 feet from the cliff top, and twenty feet above sea level. He does not appear to be injured. LAFD divers swam from their fireboat to assist at the shoreline, as LAFD Rescue Helicopters now hover above. Because of high tide and cold seas, the man will soon be hoisted aboard the helicopter. Update Civilian Fatality Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0066; 03:45AM; 832 E Manchester Av; https://bit.ly/3wcMwKa; #GreenMeadows; As firefighters continue their search through the still smoldering debris of the 50' x 100' one-story building that was heavily involved with fire on their arrival, they have discovered the remains of one adult male civilian inside the severely damaged structure. Their systematic search will continue, to assure no other victims were inside the seemingly abandoned building that proved to contain a cannabis operation. The Mayor's Crisis Response Team has been summoned to the scene, and LAFD Public Information Officer Captain Adam VanGerpen remains on site to assist the media. CONCLUDED - Earthquake Mode Complete; INC#0964; 03:07PM; North of Malibu; https://maps.app.goo.gl/L9zLjxSK9v8anXpcA; Santa Monica Mountains; The Los Angeles Fire Department has completed a citywide survey of critical infrastructure across the City of Los Angeles following a magnitude 4.6 earthquake that occurred at 1:47 PM PST today, centered in the Santa Monica Mountains north of Malibu, California, 38 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. No significant damage was identified and no serious injuries have been reported. Though additional earthquake activity cannot be predicted, firefighters remind you that when shaking starts: Drop, Cover, Hold On! Protect your head and neck while taking cover under sturdy furniture or near a sturdy interior wall, away from windows and doorways until the shaking stops. After you complete a final survey of your home and neighborhood for earthquake damage, and to confirm no one is injured, please take this time to examine and update your disaster supply kit and discuss your household and workplace disaster plans. Earthquake Mode; INC#0964; 01:47PM; North of Malibu; https://maps.app.goo.gl/L9zLjxSK9v8anXpcA; Santa Monica Mountains; A preliminary magnitude 4.6 earthquake occurred at 1:47 PM PST, centered in the Santa Monica Mountains north of Malibu, California, 38 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. Pursuant to protocol, the LAFD is now in earthquake mode, as personnel from all 106 neighborhood fire stations conduct a strategic survey by land, air and sea of their districts, examining critical infrastructure and areas of local concern across our 470 square mile City of Los Angeles jurisdiction. Once this process is complete and reports are consolidated, assuming there is no significant damage, LAFD Earthquake Mode will be complete. This process typically takes less than one hour. There are currently no initial reports of structural damage or injuries. An update will be provided once LAFD Earthquake Mode is complete. Though no additional earthquake activity is predicted, Firefighters ask you to prepare for any aftershock. If inside when shaking starts: Drop, Cover, Hold On! Protect Your Head and Neck While Taking Cover Under Sturdy Furniture or Near a Sturdy Interior Wall, Away From Windows and Doorways Until The Shaking Stops.
