As the fire was quickly extinguished, firefighters discovered one person (unknown age / gender/ site affiliation / circumstances) without vital signs of life, who was determined to be dead at the scene. Firefighter-paramedics located the driver in a remote area away from the vehicle. The elderly male patient is unable to make it up the steep grade to road level. Firefighters located contents burning in a bathroom. Firefighters arrived in time to extinguish the flames prior to structural involvement. It took 26 firefighters just 14 minutes from the time of alarm to declare a "knockdown" of the fire (10:46 AM). No reported injuries. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1652; 11:41PM; 11779 W Santa Monica Bl; https://bit.ly/33qWCpe; Sawtelle; The first 26 LAFD firefighters extinguished the flames in 30 minutes inside of a one-story 1,380 sq-ft commercial pharmacy built in 1923. Firefighters made a bold stand to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the row of commercials next door, just on the other side of a shared interior wall (division wall). No reported injuries.
