Fatality Traffic Collision; INC#0244; 06:07AM; 8900 N Winnetka Av; https://bit.ly/3DWbtKV; #Winnetka; PRELIM: Two vehicles collided at the intersection of WInnetka Av and Vanowen St, sending one into the yard of a nearby home, gravely injuring and trapping that driver in the wreckage. Despite the swift arrival of LAFD personnel, and their teamwork with power tools to disentangle him from the badly damaged vehicle, the man (in his 20's?) proved beyond medical help, was determined dead and remains at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries, declined offered ambulance transportation, and remains at the scene speaking to investigators. #LATraffic: Closure of one or more lanes in the immediate area until LAPD operations are complete, unknown duration. Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Civilian Fatality Structure Fire; INC#0118; 02:22AM; 3537 S May St; https://bit.ly/40FALGD; #MarVista; PRELIM: LAFD crew responding to an unknown type request for aid (9-1-1 hangup) arrived to find fire in a 1,096 square-foot one story home. Additional crews were assigned, and the first arriving 20 LAFD personnel had the flames fully extinguished at 2:50 AM. In searching the premises, LAFD responders discovered two persons, one male and one female (age and affiliation yet to be determined), as well as a pet cat, had perished in the flames. No other injuries were reported. Fire cause under active investigation. An adult female was located on the ground, next to the RV (outside) with no apparent burn or respiratory injuries. The patient in being transported in fair condition. There are no other injuries reported. The 9-1-1 call was received at 8:03PM.
