KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0926; 01:42PM; 17120 W Rinaldi St; https://bit.ly/3D8nOOE; Granada Hills; It took 24 firefighters just 13 minutes to extinguish a well involved fire in a detached garage. A paramedic ambulance driving down the road noticed smoke in the area and found the garage completely engulfed in flames. Thanks to the rapid work of all LAFD resources, the fire was contained to the garage and no other structures were damaged. No injuries were reported and no patients were transported as a result of this incident. Cause TBD. Firefighters defended the exposed home (Delta -north- side) from the fire and prevented it from extending into the structure. The fire did extend to some vegetation and trees behind the row of trees but was quickly stopped from spreading into the canyon below. Cause and $ loss TBD. FORWARD PROGRESS STOPPED Brush Fire; INC#1011; 03:18PM; Eb 118 Fy; https://bit.ly/3rLksLN; Granada Hills; All Forward Progress Stopped: Approximately 1/4 acre of grass was burning on the south side of the 118 FY x Balboa. That fire jumped the freeway and was at 3/4 acre on the north side, threatening structures. Firefighters extinguished all fire with no structures damaged and no injuries reported. Crews are remaining on scene to conduct mop up operations to ensure no hot spots remain. Evening commute will likely be affected and drivers are advised to check for alternate routes and CHP for closure updates. The size up was 50' x 200' and there is no update. Balboa at the 118 FY is shut down and commuters are advised to seek alternate routes. LAFD apparatus are operating off the shoulder of the freeway.
