Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0463; 08:06AM; 8229 N Canoga Av; https://bit.ly/4adYWTm; Canoga Park; One-story, 100' x 150' commercial building, doing business as a nightclub, with moderate smoke showing upon fire department arrival. Firefighters found an outside fire near the electrical panel and quickly extinguished all flames on the exterior of the building. Crews simultaneously forced interior access and employed thermal imaging to assess all interior spaces for fire extension. Knockdown declared in 19 minutes with 45 firefighters on scene. A total of 3 patients (35M serious condition/30M serious but stable condition/15M with minor injuries) are being transported to local hospitals. LADBS (LA Dept. of Building and Safety) are responding to assess damage and stability of the structure. No injuries to LAFD members. Update FATALITY Long Fall ; INC#1154; 03:24PM; 7400 N Canoga Av; https://bit.ly/4ovyA3s; Canoga Park; An approximately 44 year old male fell 35 feet onto a 10 foot high iron fence while trimming a palm tree. Tragically, this fall rendered the patient beyond medical help. An LAFD USAR team will utilize a high angle rope system to carefully recover his body, which is currently covered by a sheet and shielded from public view by a tarp to preserve the decedent's dignity. The Mayor's Crisis Response Team is en route to the scene to provide emotional support to fellow workers. LA County Coroner's office was notified and will assume responsibility of the body upon arrival. Any additional inquiries can be directed to LAPD Topanga Division INC #2890. Unfortunately, the worker succumbed to his injuries and was determined dead by LAFD. Firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the 2nd floor or to the exposed, adjacent unit. The occupants have five cats; firefighters located three and are continuing to search for the remaining two (their conditions are unknown at this time).
