The well established fire was already burning through the roof upon LAFD arrival. Firefighters made entry to conduct an interior fire attack with steady progress before ultimately extinguishing the fire. No injuries reported and no other structures damaged. Cause and $ loss TBD. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0578; 11:03AM; 351 N Cornwell St; http://bit.ly/2NAMpPO; Boyle Heights; The first 32 firefighters skillfully defeated the fireball that was consuming a structure (50' x 50' living space) in the rear of the property in just 15 minutes. Firefighters worked from the outside in, knocking down the flames from the yard, while transitioning smoothly to an interior attack and simultaneous interior search for potential victims. Primary and secondary (a double-check with fresh eyes) searches revealed no victims inside. No reported injuries. All flames have been extinguished by firefighters in 32 minutes. Investigators will continue to examine the scene. The cause is under active investigation.
