Crews contained the fire to the building of origin (appears to be vacant) and adjacent vegetation. The additional exposed homes were defended from damage. LAFD have cordoned off the area and have one southbound lane of N Laurel Canyon Blvd closed. LAFD Heavy Equipment is enroute to assist the Urban Search and Rescue Task Force in safely bringing down the billboard. Once the equipment is on scene (estimated in one hour), ALL Southbound lanes will be closed. When the operation begins, BOTH sides of Laurel Canyon Blvd will be closed for (estimated) 30 mins. The Northbound lanes will be reopened while firefighters conduct the cleanup operation. Once complete, all lanes will be reopened.
