There are multiple buildings on the property with a two story, craftsman style residence fully involved in fire. Crews are in the defensive mode for this structure and are making good progress against the bulk of the fire. There are additional buildings exposed and firefighters are in the offensive mode defending them and attack the fire that has extended. Structure Fire - FATALITY; INC#1837; 11:43PM; 8300 S Kenyon Av; https://bit.ly/3hUmhON; Westchester; Firefighters arrived to a single family dwelling with fire showing in an area (courtyard type) with excessive storage. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and extinguished it in 17 minutes. After being informed the male occupant typically slept in a tent in the area of the fire, the conducted a search. Upon locating the tent, they found an adult male beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene. LAFD Arson is responding for the investigation per protocol for a fatality. LAFD PIO Captain Cody Weireter is enroute and estimated to be on scene at 1AM for media availability. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0788; 12:39PM; 12100 W Olympic Bl; https://bit.ly/3xILNML; Sawtelle; Thirty firefighters responded to a high-rise under construction (only three floors built so far), where rebar became electrically energized, injuring three workers, and igniting the structure. Two of the workers self-evacuated prior to firefighter arrival and a third, sadly, perished. Firefighters extinguished the fire in 31 minutes, from the exterior (due to ongoing electrical hazard). LADWP and Edison are working to ensure the area is de-energized before firefighters enter to assist with body recovery. Two patients were transported to a local hospital, unknown age/gender/condition.
