Update Structure Fire; INC#0577; 11:19AM; 4650 W Sunset Bl; http://bit.ly/2YSMbKs; East Hollywood; The smoke caused by a smoldering fire in the walls underground in a CHLA building caused 3 floors to be evacuated (ground level and 2 floors below). Approximately 200 people were safely evacuated. HVAC involvement spread some smoke to other areas of the building. LAFD worked with building engineers to ventilate the building after the fire was located and extinguished. No reported injuries. Structure Fire; INC#0577; 11:19AM; 4650 W Sunset Bl; http://bit.ly/2YSMbKs; East Hollywood; 81 FF currently responding to a fire problem in one of the buildings on the CHLA property have declared a knockdown in 58 minutes. A pesky fire was smoldering in a part of the building under construction and creating a smoke problem in one or more underground levels. The source of the smoke has been located and eliminated. This incident is reported to NOT be affecting any of the pediatric patients elsewhere on the property, so far. Systematic ventilation of the building will now begin to safely remove the accumulated smoke, while limiting the damage and impact on the rest of the building. No reported injuries. Exact cause and damage estimates are unknown.
