Update Brush Fire #PalisadesFire; INC#0580; 08:00PM; https://www.lafd.org/news/pacific-palisades-brush-fire; internal:/; Pacific Palisades; The anticipated Santa Ana winds arrived. However, due to firefighters' relentless work over the past four days, the fire perimeter held and containment was increased from 55% to 75%. Due to the continued progress made, the number of firefighters has been reduced from 177 to 115. Firefighters will remain on-scene overnight patrolling to ensure wind gusts do not spread embers outside our containment lines. A more in-depth assessment shows the fire perimeter to be 42 acres, and the homes damaged to be 0, due to the damage being predominantly ornamental exterior items with no structural involvement. As we work to free up resources, demobilize the Field Incident Management Team and transition to the local battalion, tomorrow’s AM incident update will be the final Incident Update for the Palisades Fire. Santa Ana winds will continue to trigger extreme fire danger. Residents living in wildfire-prone areas are encouraged to be prepared in the event of a brush fire, remain vigilant, and familiarize themselves with the Ready-Set-Go program. Northerly wind gusts, up to 45 mph, blew embers in a southwest direction across Palisades Drive. However, firefighters prevented embers from creating spot fires and called in helicopters to make 5 water drops on smoldering debris. Last night’s infrared flight (see video at link above) showed countless hotspots throughout the 45 acre fire footprint, as can be seen in the video below.
